Our research theme is marine sports. Hamamatsu and the Enshu area are famous for a variety of things, such as eels, dumplings, music, and motorcycles. Recently, marine sports have also become one of the famous things for Hamamatsu. However, many people do not know about how famous marine sports are here in this region, so we want more people to know about marine sports. Also we would like to connect the new regional attraction of “popular place for marine sports” to the regional revitalization of the Enshu area. For this reason, we decided to make the opportunity to get more people to know about marine sports and the attraction of Hamamatsu.
We, as local residents, need to know the opinions from various perspectives and environmental issues that are expected to emerge from this project. We, the younger generation, need to understand these issues and communicate them to people in Japan and the world to show the attractiveness of the region.
First, we researched marine sports. We found out that marine sports cover a wide range. There are many marine sports available in the Sea of Enshu and Lake Hamana, and many marine sports are also available as an activity and people of all ages can enjoy them while feeling nature.
Second, we conducted a simple questionnaire to survey the public’s awareness of marine sports. We also conducted interviews at the Hamamatsu City Hall and at a marine sports experience-type facility, and examined the current situation and problems from the perspective of each party. During the summer vacation, we actually went to Nakadajima sand dunes and Hamana Lake to pick up trash and grasp the actual state of trash in the sea and lakes.
When we were deciding on our research theme, we started with the hope that many people would know about Hamamatsu as the “famous place of marine sports” and that many people would come to Hamamatsu. However, as we studied the Hamamatsu-Enshu area, from a variety of perspectives, we discovered that it was not easy because of a lot of problems. However, we felt that everyone has the same love for their hometown.
First of all, we thought it was important for us, the younger generation, to take an interest in and learn about our hometowns. To this end, we would like to create a community where people from different backgrounds can easily get together, and we would like to pay attention to and participate in activities that are taking place around the world. We would also like to utilize the power of communication of young people in such activities to spread the appeal of the local community. We would like to actively participate in such activities and link them to the revitalization of this city. With covid-19 calming down, inbound demand from overseas is expected to increase. In addition, experience-based travel is becoming popular these days, so it would be interesting to create plans that allow visitors to experience both marine sports and local traditions and characteristics. We hope that our proposal will help to connect the world and the region.
