Issues and Solutions

We think about two problems in the city of Hamamatsu.

The first is the declining birthrate and aging population.

The second is the hollowing out of the central city due to the expansion of large suburban shopping malls.

To cope with the declining birthrate and aging population, we need to alleviate the anxiety of parents and guardians by aiming to create a city where families with children can live safely and where it is easy to raise children.

The advance of large suburban stores has become a nationwide problem. In order to guide the flow of people into the city from the store’s point of view in order to improve the hollowing out of the central city, we thought about how to get people to know about the stores and how to provide services that would make them want to come back.

Not only do these issues have a great deal to do with the lives of citizens, but they also have an important place in a city’s economy. And it is the issue most closely related to local revitalization.

The following table summarizes the solutions for the above two points.

IssuesSolutions
1 The arrival of an aging society with low birthratesMore residential areas where families can live safely
Strengthen and facilitate local government support for child rearing (prenatal, postnatal, subsidy systems, etc.)
Increase in children’s routes to school, sidewalks, streetlights, etc.
2Expansion of large suburban storesDistribution of ads and flyers with coupons
For Kids: Large Athletic Complex
     City Exploration Stamp Rally
For young people: the addition of the official line of Entetsu Department Store, a popular teen store
It comes with a coupon, etc.
     Creating a youth-driven website
Use tags such as #HamamatsuCafe to spread the word on SNS
For seniors: creating a resting place that incorporates nature
      Increase in barrier-free access

We think the most important thing to do in order to build a better city is to listen to the voices of the citizens. We would like many people to know the charm of Hamamatsu by incorporating the trends of the times to the whole town and sending out information by fusing the traditions and culture of Hamamatsu with the new trends.
Town Center Prosperity Council

The “Town Center Prosperity Council” is a private-sector urban development company that was established by the private sector under the slogan “Our town is in our hands”. It is characterized by the fact that it is not financed by the government, but only by the private sector.

Their main activity is the management of “Any”, a community space that opened in the city of Hamamatsu in 2015.

There are three main services offered by “Any”.

【1】Coworking space

You can share open work spaces, meeting rooms and meeting corners.Unlike a “study room” or “rental office”, people with different jobs and activities can ‘interact’ and communicate with each other, sharing knowledge and information and improving each other.

【2】rental space

There are six spaces, including an exhibition/sales space, a meeting room/seminar space and a terrace, which are available for rent for holding seminars, meetings and promoting your products and services.

【3】seminar

There will be study sessions, trial meetings and social events.

In addition to that, the blog also provides information about events and information about events in the community, as well as various projects and collaborations to create a forum for interaction.

New problems and solutions by revitalizing the city

Two of the problems that will arise as the city is revitalized is

Depopulation of the suburbs.

Stress on people due to population growth

We focused on these two points.

We were concerned about the “depopulation of the suburbs” that inevitably occurs when people congregate in the city, and that more and more people might feel stressed by the increase in population. We, as citizens of Hamamatsu, did not want to overlook this problem, so we created a map of tourist attractions in depopulated areas to see if we could propose a solution to these two problems.

”I don’t like crowd”

“I like quiet places”

The purpose of the project is to provide a place of relaxation in an area with little traffic and to encourage the community to develop independently.

Instead of making the depopulation worse by revitalizing the city, We hope we can use this as an opportunity to solve the depopulation problem at the same time.

We think you can also visit the tourist sites we’ve picked up in this article without worrying about the corona infection. Why don’t you make use of this map and create some fun memories with your family and friends?
