Our class looked at dialects

What is dialect?

The language system of a region when a language is considered to have developed separately in different regions and to have been divided into a number of linguistic areas with different phonological, grammatical, lexical and other differences.

We divided them into five groups: Japan, Shizuoka, Enshu, Ethnicity and World.

1. The “Shizuoka” group has created a four-panel manga and quiz about the Shizuoka dialect.

You can enjoy learning the dialect of Shizuoka.

2. The “Enshu” group created a quiz on the Enshu dialect, the results of a questionnaire on the dialect, and an old story of the Enshu dialect.

3. For example, the word “Beauty” is “Churacaragi” in Okinawa.

The “Japan” group studied the differences in dialects throughout Japan.

4. The “Ethnicity” group looked at intonation and differences in word endings across the country.

There are many different types of dialects to choose from, so you can have fun while learning about them.

5. In the “World” group, we had an overview of the world’s languages and a comparison of languages.

You can also find out more about dialects outside of Japan, so please take a look.

《summary》

The dialect is fading little by little. I think the factors are as follows.

  1. Compared to the past, the family structure has changed.
  2. Significant spread of communication networks such as the Internet.

I think what we can do from now on is to recognize that “dialects” are important cultures in each region. However, it does not mean speaking or learning consciously. After all, words are learned from communication in daily life. Among them, the one that naturally appears in conversation is the “dialect”. In the future, it will be important for us to actively interact with the elderly.

First of all, think about the small things around you. It may be a trivial matter, but I think it is important to increase the number of times you go to see your grandparents and great-grandparents, increase communication, and be a little more conscious.

And when I visit another area, I want to enjoy the language of that area and the interaction with the people in that area.
